Chief Winemaker Bruce Jack
A Capetonian whose curiosity and palette has taken him the length and breadth of the globe. Bruce completed his undergrad in Political Science and Literature at UCT and then read his Masters in Literature at St Andrew’s in Scotland. His subsequent winemaking degree came from the Roseworthy Campus at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Bruce is a pioneer, and in many respects a maverick, and what he brings to winemaking is an articulate opinion about his greatest passion.

Andrew studied Literature and Sociology at UCT before setting off on a global trek that saw him working under the seas of the Caribbean, on the snow covered slopes of the Canadian Rockies and writing for a variety of financial and travel institutions. Double Gold for Writers Block at Michelangelo Awards Posted on September 14 2011 by
The results of the 15th Annual Michelangelo International Wine Awards (MIWA) were announced Friday, 09 September 2011 at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West.
This year a total of 1385 wines were entered, of those 475 wines received medals and among those were two of Flagstone’s red wines. This prestigious event only awards medals to 30% of the wines entered.
Flagstone Music Room Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 was the first Flagstone wine to receive an award claiming a 2011 Michaelangelo Silver Medal.
This year, 35 wines received Grand D’or Medals, Flagstone Writer’s Block Pinotage 2009 was among only 5 of 100 Pinotage wines to receive this accolade. Our Pinotage, from the Breedekloof, is consistently rated as one of South Africa’s top Pinotage wines, ranking in the 2007 and 2008 ABSA Top 10 Pinotage wines in South Africa.

Congratualtions to Diemersdal Estate for wining the Sue van Wyk Pinotage Trophy and to Journey’s End for claiming the Grotto Top Producer Trophy and the CCL Label Grand Prix Trophy.
