The 2011 Veritas Awards Posted on October 11 2011 by
The 2011 Veritas Awards gave Flagstone another reason to savour this year’s award season. Our wines have been working their magic at a variety of ceremonies this year and Saturday night at the Cape Town International Convention Centre proved no different.
As one of South Africa’s most prestigious and well-recognised awards, Veritas is a respected barometer for quality and excellence. 2011 featured 1,739 wines and brandies, with 42 (2.41%) double gold, 158 (9.08%) gold, 609 (35.0%) silver and 619 (35.6%) bronze medals awarded.
This year Flagstone received Silver Veritas Medals for our 2 red blends, Dragon Tree 2008 and Longitude 2010; Gold Veritas Medals for 2 white wines, the Word of Mouth Viognier 2011 and Treaty Tree Reserve 2010. The Veritas Double Golds were bestowed on another 2 of our wines, The Music Room 2009 and Writer’s Block 2009. In 2011 these double gold winning wines have brought home a diamond award, 3 double gold medals, 2 gold medals and a silver medal. Congratulations to Gerhard, Bruce and the entire team behind Flagstone for another extraordinary accomplishment.
The award season is beginning to taper off, with only a few more ceremonies remaining. We hope our cabinet receives a few more trophies but as it stands this season has been a remarkable one for Flagstone, both on the shelves, from the judges and importantly from the compliments paid by our friends and fans. It’s this kinship and passion that inspires us to raise the bar higher each year. We look forward to many more memorable glasses of wine with you.
