Jack & Knox The Outsider Shiraz 2002
Free-style tasting notes
This intriguing wine is introduced by a flurry of violet and sweet-spice aromas with base notes of molasses and sprinklings of classic shiraz white pepper. Not only does it drink beautifully, but it lingers hauntingly - soft-grained, suede-like tannins hold the supple polished fruit that expresses juicy raspberry with hints of anise. Enticing and succulent, the wine evolves with ephemeral beauty in the glass. A seductive wine.
Straight
Aromatic violet and raspberry, Christmas cake spice and molasses on the nose with evolving white pepper notes. Supple, soft entry and a plush mouthfeel created by very elegant tannins and balanced acidity. The wine shows a good accord between the nose and the palate with pure sweet-savoury fruit flavours and a delicate but lingering structure.
