2021 is best awards year for Accolade Wines
Flagstone winery has had a stunning 2021, reaping in numerous awards, many of which were repeats of previous years.

Flagstone celebrated 3 Double Golds (93+ points) and 5 Golds (89+ points) at the 2021 Michelangelo International Wine Awards. In addition, Flagstone Treaty Tree Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2018 was awarded the Trophy for Best White Blend. A Trophy winning wine represents both the top 1.1% of all entries received as well as best in class.

The National Wine Challenge, incorporating Top 100 SA Wines, is the premier fine wine competition in SA.Flagstone was the best performing winery at the 2021 competition with the most category wins and most wines in the Top 100 with 3 Grand Cru Awards, 5 Double Platinum Awards and 3 Double Gold Awards.

Sauvignon Blanc South Africa fosters excellence in making and marketing South African Sauvignon Blanc locally and internationally and rewards those making wines of true distinction with its Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc South Africa awards. 2021 will be remembered as a world-class Top 10 and all 96 producers who entered can therefore rightly be proud of the performance of their 157 wines. Flagstone Free Run Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2020 was one of four winning wines that have already achieved this feat before.
The Perold ABSA Cape Blend competition promotes a blended red wine of which Pinotagemakes up at least 30%. The top wines must be of such unique and distinctive quality that they could have a significant impact on the international wine market. Dragon Tree Cape Blend 2018 was in the Top 5 for second time.
The ABSA Top 10 Pinotage competition identifies ten Pinotage wines that will serve as the benchmark for the development of this varietal and illustrating its uniqueness in the International wine world. In the competition’s 24-years, this is the 7th vintage of Flagstone’s Writer’s Block Pinotage to win a Top 10 Award with its 2018 release
Flagstone Dark Horse Shiraz 2017 was announced as one of the Top 12 Shiraz’s in South Africa by the Shiraz SA Challenge. This will make it the 4th time that Dark Horse made it to the Top 12 (previous vintages include 2016, 2015 & 2013)
At the South African National Young Wine Show Flagstone was selected as both the best regional Pinot Noir with Fiona 2021 from the Darling Region and as the National best Pinot Noir for 2021. This show is one of the oldest wine competitions in the world, dating back to 1833 and is now in its 189th year.
At the Ultra Value Wine Challenge 2021, Accolade Wines was
- the top multiple winning vineyard with 17 wins including;
- 3 Double golds for Flagstone Noon Gun 2021, Dragon Tree Cape Blend 2019 and Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
- 6 Golds for Flagstone Tributary Chenin Blanc 2020, Treaty Tree 2019 Word Of Mouth Viognier 2020, Poetry Rosé 2021 and Poetry Merlot 2020 and Fish Hoek Sauvignon Blanc 2021
- 3rd overall in the Vineyard Consistency Award which assesses and awards those top-ranking vineyards that have proved to be consistently at the fore throughout the 7 years of this value-wine competitions history
Fish Hoek 2021 Rosé and Kumala 2021 Rosé respectively won Double Gold and Gold at this year’s Rose Rocks competition.
