Flagstone’s Harvest Race Against Lockdown

Although every harvest is unique, the 2020 harvest will go down as an unprecedented challenge. Besides all the environmental factors that usually throw up a bloom of curveballs, the looming lockdown put an uncompromising deadline on our work. This shaved two weeks off our usual harvest time and with 40% of our grapes arriving in the space of two weeks the winery was a frenetic environment.

We picked our last Cabernet Sauvignon on Friday 27 March, making this the earliest finish for Flagstone’s harvest in ten years.  The good news is that we came in at around 3% more than the forecast 385 tons of grapes. There was little rain during vintage and we are looking at a good quality year.
