South African Wine Top 100, Hall of Fame 2021
The SA Wine & Cellar Classifications – updated annually since 2004 – are based on the top ratings and awards from the world’s most respected panels when it comes to the judging of wine quality and interest value. This involves reviews by knowledgeable wine lovers who conduct their assessments in a ‘blind tasting’ environment, i.e. with the names of the wines and their producers withheld so as not to influence the jury either positively or negatively in terms of brand status or perceptions regarding the origin of the grapes or the location of the cellars.
The SA Wine Classification takes into account ratings and awards presented during the previous 10 years, whereby eligibility for selection requires at least three vintages of a wine to receive a good review by at least one of the top panels during that period. Depending on the number of vintages for which the leading wines receive top accolades, the number of good reviews and the nature thereof, the very best track records in the various categories are highlighted in showcasing which of South Africa’s wines are most highly fancied year in and year out.
2021 CLASSIFICATION. Flagstone Wines has 4 wines in the 100 most highly rated South African wines over the past 10 years – 2011 to 2020 – as reviewed by the top panels of judges around the world.
